Well I'm back but it's about a week later.  I have been so completely overwhelmed with stuff to catch up on that I haven't had time to write my final day report.  Anyway I have now found a slot so here goes...

We arrived at São Paulo airport in good time and found that we had all been upgraded.  That doesn't happen very often.  Yih Jia and I went for a pizza and saw Kelly who was flying off to the USA for an implantology conference.  It gave me chance to thank her for all the help with the Portuguese language.  That has been one of the joys of this trip for me.  The Portuguese language is fantastic and it has been great to participate in it to a small degree and to have so many enthusiastic helpers. Everyone at the FAPI has been superb about helping me and I really felt I have made some progress during the week.

On the aircraft we were all sitting together in World Traveller Plus class which is just a bit better than the economy class we had paid for.  It was a night flight so as soon as the seatbelt signs went off I got my seat back and fell asleep.  It felt like a restless night but I must have been fairly soundly asleep for at least some of it. Yih Jia was sitting next to me and told me in the morning that she climbed over me during the night so that she wouldn't have to disturb me.  I don't remember that at all.  When I woke up we only had two hours or so to go so it was not a bad trip at all.

I had come from Brazil where you can buy an amazing meal for about £2.50.  Suddenly there I am in Heathrow airport buying a plastic triangle of sandwiches for £2.95.  Welcome home !  On a more positive note Heathrow didn't lose my luggage this time which was somewhat of a relief.

Anyway it was a great trip.  It was very different from the first one where there were many more of us.  Also my role was a little different than I expected because of the absence of Karen who broke her leg the night before departure.  However I went with the flow and I really got a lot out of it.

Karen, get well soon and keep in touch.
